Kriti Sweets - Traditional Gulab Jamun
About Gulab Jamun
Gulab Jamun is a popular traditional dessert in Indian cuisine, known for its deliciously sweet and soft texture. This confection is often served during festive occasions, weddings, and celebrations. The dish is believed to have origins linked to Persia but has been indigenized to fit the local palate over centuries.
History of Gulab Jamun
Historically, Gulab Jamun is said to have been derived from the Persian dessert 'Luqmat Al-Qadi' which was introduced to India during the Mughal period. The term "Gulab" comes from Persian, meaning rose, referring to the rose water-scented syrup, while "Jamun" is named after the Indian fruit with a similar shape and color.
