  6. Once the mixed ingredients start boiling, cover the saucepan with a lid, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. You can use a cooking timer to track the cooking time.

  7. After 15-20 minutes, check to ensure the rice and dal are cooked properly, and the mixture should have a creamy consistency. If too dry, add a little more water.

  8. Add the fried potatoes and sprinkle garam masala. Stir gently to blend without breaking the potatoes.
