- Onion – 1 large, finely chopped
- Garlic – 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger – 1 tablespoon, grated
- Cumin – 2 teaspoons, ground
- Coriander – 2 teaspoons, ground
- Turmeric – 1 teaspoon, ground
- Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
- Chili Powder – 1 teaspoon
- Salt – to taste
- Lime – 1, juiced
- Fresh Coriander – 1/4 cup, chopped
- Phyllo Dough – 1 pack

Preparation Steps
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a tablespoon of oil. Add the onion and sauté until golden brown.
Add the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon as it browns.
Once the beef is browned, stir in the cumin, coriander, turmeric, garam masala, and chili powder. Cook for another 2 minutes.
Season with salt and add the lime juice. Stir in the fresh coriander and allow the filling to cool completely.
Assembling Jozi Fusion Samoosa
Unroll the phyllo dough, keeping unused sheets covered with a damp towel.
Take one sheet of phyllo and brush it lightly with melted butter, fold lengthwise into thirds.
Place a generous spoonful of the filling on one end of the strip, fold into a triangle, covering the filling, and continue folding until you reach the end of the strip, securing the edges with more butter.
Cooking Process
Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 180°C (355°F). Use a cooking timer to monitor the time.
Fry the samoosas in batches until golden brown and crispy, approximately 3-4 minutes per batch.
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
