Maple Glazed Bannock Bites
Bannock is a versatile and traditional bread with a rich history among Indigenous peoples in North America. Traditionally, bannock was made with simple ingredients and cooked over an open fire, symbolizing nourishment and community. Our Maple Glazed Bannock Bites bring a modern twist by incorporating maple syrup, adding a sweet glaze to these rustic treats.

Making the Dough
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Slowly add the milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Cooking the Bannock Bites

- Place the bannock pieces onto the pan, cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the bannock bites from the pan and let them cool slightly.
Preparing the Maple Glaze
- In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup and brown sugar.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Serving
Once the bannock bites have cooled slightly, drizzle them with the warm maple glaze. These bites can be served as a dessert or a sweet snack, perfect for cozy gatherings or as a treat to enjoy by yourself. Pair with a hot beverage like coffee or tea to enhance the warm flavors.
